Do you ever get in a hairstyle rut with your little ones? Yeah, us too! So we brought in a stylist to teach us a few tips and we'd like to pass them along to you. We have a few tutorials in our back pocket and we'll share them with you as the weeks go on. Today we'll learn how to do bun pigtails!
These are the items you'll need in your toolbox in order to make make this as adorable and simple as possible.
Detangler, hairspray, hair ties, a brush, a comb, and hair clips (optional).
Start from the middle of the nose and use your comb to part the hair evenly. Once you have a straight line all the way down to the back of the hair, pull one side into a temporary ponytail to keep it out of the way.
Brush hair upwards and smooth it out.
Stylist tip: To get the correct placement of the pigtails, use your finger to make the ponytail even with the back of her ear.
Cloth hair ties are the best option for bun pigtails in order to prevent pulling and catching the hair. Begin pulling the hair into a ponytail but on the last wrap, do not pull hair completely through the hair tie. This should create the bun. (Note: For layered hair, you may need to leave slightly more hair outside on the last loop to prevent it coming through the ponytail.)
Take one marabou puff and clip through the hair on the top/inside of the bun. To make an extra fluffy pigtail, add another marabou puff next to it.
Repeat this process with the other side of her head.
Now you have adorable pigtail buns!
Stylist tip: For short hair that is lying on the back of the neck, take the hair and position as if it were in the ponytail. Spray the back of the head with hairspray upwards toward the ponytail. Then comb the freshly sprayed hair in place, starting at the bottom and moving up towards the ponytail. Spray the hair once more with hairspray to ensure that the hair does not fall.
Aren't these the cutest little pigtails you've ever seen?? Grab some marabou puffs and give it a shot.
