Hey, y'all! Bethany here from Pitter and Glink to share an inexpensive piece of holiday decor with you.
This is my dollar store tray turned Christmas-y chalkboard, and it is soooo easy to make! You need minimal supplies to make your own.
Supplies:
- metal tray from the dollar store
- chalkboard paint
- flowers from the Hair Bow Company
- magnets
- hot glue gun & glue sticks
- paint brush
To begin, paint the bottom of the tray with your chalkboard paint.
Follow the manufacturer's directions for the chalkboard paint you use. (You will need to wait a certain amount of time between coats, and you will need to condition the paint with chalk before use.)
While you wait for your paint to dry, select a few festive flowers and the same amount of magnets. (You're going to glue magnets on the back of them so that your chalkboard can be seasonal or for everyday use.)
Use hot glue to attach a magnet to the back of each flower. Once you've conditioned your chalkboard paint, stick your flower magnets to your new chalkboard and write a fun message on it!
The pretty, festive flowers make this chalkboard perfect for the holidays!
And I love that the flowers can easily be changed out for different holidays! You could even use the magnets to attach small pictures to the tray too. There are so many possibilities with this, and that's the kind of project I love! Happy crafting!
