Contest is now closed. Congrats to Brandi.
Earlier this week we had a Halloween themed photoshoot. We love showing off our fun products on adorable little girls, and Halloween items are the cutest of all the cute!!
One of our models was 7 years old, and I decided she would be the perfect one to test a two-tone ribbon tie tutu. We recently got a batch of chevron ribbon (it'll be on the site soon!) so I used that as the waistband instead of a solid ribbon. The final product was awesome!!
I used the basic ribbon tie tutu tutorial (here) and used just two colors. I did about 11 strands of 33" orange tulle, then 11 strands of 33" black tulle. I kept going around until I had 23" of tulle knots around the waist. This gave me a tutu that was about 16" long and sized to fit a 7 year old. To determine the waist measurements for your tutu, use this chart.
I believe this particular tutu only took about two spools of each color, though you can always use less or more if you want to change the fluffiness of the skirt.
If you or your child are particular about the type of tutu you want, I highly recommend making your own. We offer tons of solid tutu options in several colors and sizes, but if you want something with more colors, a bit more fluff, or a cute ribbon tie, this is the way to go!!
Leave a comment if you'd like to win this tutu for your munchkin! Keep in mind that it is made to fit a 5-8 year old. We will draw a winner next week.
