Alice in Wonderland Costume (DIY)

This giveaway is over. Congrats to Melody!

Still stumped about what your daughter can be for Halloween? We're here with another suggestion! A sweet, simple DIY Alice in Wonderland tutu dress makes the perfect costume. Pair it with some white tights and black flats for a precious look!

I tried my hand at an older girl tutu dress this time! We recently added 10" crochet tops to our site and wanted to see how they worked out.

They are lined, which makes them perfect for older girls. However, the lining did prove to make the dress a bit more difficult to make. (And by "more difficult," I mean that I needed a crochet hook or pencil to help me loop the tulle... It still was a piece of cake!)

Because this was for an older girl and I wanted a longer dress, it took a bit more tulle. I used three full spools of light blue tulle and only made it one layer. I used part of a spool of white tulle for the apron on the front. I thought about adding some capped sleeves on the top of the dress with tulle, but I think those need to be sized for the child. Since we are giving this dress away, I didn't want to size it incorrectly.

If you have a daughter between the ages of 6 and around 12 that would enjoy this dress, leave a comment! We will choose a winner next week.

Want to make it yourself? You can use a 6" or 8" crochet headband to make it fit your daughter. And if she's young, I recommend our lace trim leggings to go with the dress.
