Changing the Face of Beauty

You may have noticed a few new shining faces around our website lately. In fact, I KNOW you've noticed, because you've been telling us. Let me be the first to say, "Yes, I know. These models ARE incredible and they ARE adorable!!"

So let's talk about it.

A month ago, I received an email from a customer of ours. She had done a feature for us in Ruffles (our mini magazine that is sent out with orders) that wrote about how she crafts for her special needs daughter regardless of if her daughter knows what she's doing. She spoke of the importance of doing things out of an abundance of love. It was incredible. This customer told me about a Facebook page she follows called Changing the Face of Beauty.

The goal of this page is to encourage companies to use children of all abilities in their marketing and imagery. They were launching a campaign called #15in2015 to get 15 companies this year to commit to using special needs children in their marketing. You guys. There was practically a waiting list to get involved. I emailed the coordinator the second I found out about it and I STILL didn't make it on their list. If you head to their Facebook page, you'll see that we are company number 16. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!

They did a model call for us on their page and we had a surge of applicants. The rest is history, y'all. Our website is definitely a joyful place to browse, don't you think??

These models are amazing. Their parents are amazing. Each one of them has a story to tell... and we're going to let them tell it. Over the coming months, we will be posting stories from the parents of our models. We didn't give them any guidelines, we just asked them to use our blog as a platform to say whatever they want.

In the meantime, support the Changing the Faces of Beauty movement. Check out their website. Follow their Facebook page. Encourage your favorite companies to get involved! Spread the word.
